The team of volunteers at Greener Henley are always reading books and sharing recommendations about the many great climate and nature stories out there, so they’ve kindly put together a challenge for you: Read one of the books listed from their favourites listed on their website and start a conversation with someone about it during the month of June.
You may already belong to a local book club, be a born bookworm, or just looking for a recommendation for something different – and their list below is packed full of inspirational, well-written, richly detailed, and gorgeously good reads, penned by an impressive range of authors, from economists and scientists to naturalists and conservationists.
In this list of eight recommended books, you will find something for everyone including beautiful words by a renaissance scholar about treasuring nature that are both amusing and thought-provoking; conversations with Aristotle – you’ll never look at wasps in the same way again; the meaning of life on Earth from its very beginnings to the present day by way of Charlie Chaplin; the biologist Francis Crick and pop-sensation Taylor Swift, or why we should save all our old apple trees.
Are you up for the challenge? Help to broaden the conversation about our natural world and its wonders and choose your book today. Join the Big Green Conversation! They would love to hear your thoughts on how you’re enjoying them and who you’ve shared them with too.
