We're delighted to welcome Baroness May of Maidenhead back to the Festival. Our second female Prime Minister and longest-serving Home Secretary of modern times joins Helen MacNamara and Cleo Watson for a special live recording of their politics podcast In The Room. Baroness May’s time in office coincided with a period of profound political and global change, and across nearly three decades of public service she developed extensive experience in government, international affairs and public policy. She now shares these insights in her book, The Abuse of Power, which explores how institutions can fail individuals and the reforms needed to strengthen accountability and public trust. As former Deputy Cabinet Secretary, Helen coordinated the business of Cabinet for Prime Ministers May, Cameron and Johnson. Now a novelist, Cleo interned for Barack Obama before going on to advise both May and Johnson at No.10.
