Eric Butcher: Trace Elements

In 2020, amid environmental anxiety, internationally renowned painter Eric Butcher made an extraordinary commitment: he would create only from materials already available in his Oxfordshire studio.When he runs out of material to use, repurpose and recycle he will cease making art. Trace Elements charts the project which has seen him destroy his own work and present fragments of paint sandwiched between sheets of glass like specimens. He joins us with this unique insight into his creative process.
