Keith Jeffrey

Inside intelligence

A unique opportunity to talk to a man who has been where no writer has been before - inside the closed archives of the Secret Intelligence Service - MI6 - to research this first-ever history of the organisation. Jeffrey had full and unrestricted access to the archives for the period 1909–1949. The result is a fascinating journey into the secretive world of espionage in a period that covers the two World Wars with much of what happened still affecting the world in which we live today . A truly groundbreaking book by Jeffrey who will be interviewed by former News at Ten editor Charles Stewart-Smith.

Gary Lineker

Gary Lineker
Still Dreaming - South Africa 2010

For England fans the dream turned sour in South Africa but in this fascinating account of the 2010 World Cup former England striker and BBC presenter Gary Lineker captures the drama, the excitement and the upsets of the competition. The Golden Boot winner in Mexico in 1986 he remains England's leading World Cup scorer. He played for his country 80 times and scored 48 goals - he began with his home town team Leicester City before going on to play with Everton, Barcelona and Spurs. He has since carved a remarkable career for himself in broadcasting and journalism and even crisps with his easy charm, quick wit and intelligent views on the game. Tonight he will be talking with his long-time friend and leading sports adviser Jon Holmes. An evening not to be missed by anyone who enjoys the beautiful game and good conversation.

Barbara Richardson & Cecelia Anne Sadek: Marlow Now and Then

This fascinating collection of photographs illustrates the development of Marlow over the last century by contrasting archive and modern views of the town. As well as charting the changes, this book included many images of the idyllic Marlow riverside, which has proved ever-popular with tourists, boaters and locals. In addition, the book includes some of Marlow's famous residents, from twenty-first century celebrities to academics, poets and extraordinary people of the past. Join Barbara and Cecilia in the Highland Park Room at the Town Hall for the duration of the Festival.
