The Co-operative Bank Henley Literary Festival 2008

Highlights from the Festival 2008

A Literary Feast

A good literary festival is about more than any individual event; it’s a chance to spend time inside the world of books, meeting the writers in informal settings, enjoying the company of like-minded people and taking time out to enjoy the spectacular setting. There should be a sense of a community coming together. A good way to do that is to get together over a meal, a drink or a cup of coffee. Tickets for the Party, Lunch and Dinner can be booked through the Box Office Tel: 01491 414 150.

EVE OF FESTIVAL PARTY in association with the River and Rowing Museum
Thursday Sept 18, 7–9pm in the Museum, £14.
Get in the mood: authors and audience mingle at a party to kick off the festival in the fabulous surroundings of the Museum room. Surrounded by artefacts and memorabilia, enjoy a few drinks and canapés in the company of other festival goers, as well as some of the writers. Sponsored by Best of Henley and SJD Events Ltd.

LITERARY LUNCH
with Santa Montefiore and Celia Walden at Phyllis Court, £35
Book Club members and those interested in forming a club should come along for lunch in the lovely surroundings of Phyllis Court. Guest speakers are the novelist Santa Montefiore and journalist Celia Walden. Come, enjoy a delicious two-course lunch and some stimulating company, with a special guest speaker, novelist Santa Montefiore.

SIR PETER O’SULLEVAN DINNER
Leander Club, £45
Racing’s most famous voice comes to the world’s most famous rowing club. Leander Club dinners are always enjoyable and this is a rare chance to hear a legend speak. Sir Peter O’Sullevan is clever, charming and charismatic. Enjoy fine dining in the company of a great man.

Free programme available at the Box Office in the Regal Cinema or request by phone 01491 414 150.
